Because of the raising fuel costs, I have decided
to take a close look at fossil fuel alternatives specifically biofuels.
Being new to the BioFuel scene, I decided to dedicate a website to the pursuit of
accurate and complete information on Biofuels and their uses. I will be blogging my own
experiences implementing and burning biofuels. I will start by converting
my 04 GMC Sierra 3500 to run both diesel or Vegetable Oil (VO) at the flick of a
switch. This way I will be able to determine and chart various statistics
like fuel economy and performance. I know there are VO conversions that
either can switch automagiclly and some that do not need a switch at all, but
for data collection purposes, I want to be able to switch between diesel and
whatever I have in the Aux tank so deltas can be collected.
With this dual tank system it will also allow me
test the difference between Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) and Waste Vegetable
Oil (WVO). Or, I could disable the inline fuel
heater used for running SVO/WVO and test the various blends of Biodiesel.
Or I could run diesel in the aux tank and evaluate what happens if it is pre-heated.
