Senior Systems Engineer, MetLife/Entex                                              3/98 10/99.

Responsible for the system administration of AIX, Solaris, HPUX, DEC UNIX, and Windows NT based systems at MetLife’s Rensselaer Information Systems Center (RISC).  Senior site administrator for all of RISC’s AIX systems which include two SP frames consisting of six silver nodes, three high nodes, one wide node connected to 6.248TB of SSA DASD, with E30 and F30 Control Workstations; three RS/6000 43Ps; one F40; one J50; and a 49H/J50 HACMP cluster.  Unix Admin Duties include:  Maintaining the hardware environment by adding new components as required and preparing the environment for additional equipment (power, networking), coordinating hardware installation with vendor CE’s and scheduling the required downtime;  Shutdown and re-booting nodes as required;  Managing the user environment by adding, modifying and removing user accounts from the environment and limiting access to appropriate nodes;  Resolving all hardware problems by working with hardware engineers, coordinating resolution and perform any recovering operations (e.g. restoring disk volumes);  Monitor the environment using various tools including Tivoli;  Migrate application and other software modifications from the development environment to production;  Administer tape backups performed on local and remote tape drives. Catalog the tapes and send and retrieve tapes to and from an off-site facility;  For nodes using HACMP, restore operation to primary node after a failover has occurred and problem with primary system has been resolved;  Install software patches and upgrades to operating system and various packages including: UDB EEE, PSSP and AIX.  Responsible for the domain administration of a local NT resource domain consisting of over 230 rack mounted Compaq NT servers.  Responsible for the staged migration of a SP frame from AIX 4.2.1 and PSSP 2.3 to AIX 4.3.2 and PSSP 2.4.  Responsible for the testing and documentation of DBR procedures using Sysback on SP nodes.  SP Change Coordinator responsible for chairing weekly change meetings, and coordinating all hardware and software changes done on MetLife’s SP frames.
