Responsible for providing pre-sales technical consulting to Pioneer’s sales force and direct to customers throughout New England.  Primary focus on RS/6000 and IBM Storage products.  Participated in an IBM Item Review Workshop updating and rewriting the IBM AIX 4.3 Installation, Backup and System Recovery certification test #189 and AIX 4.3 Problem Determination Tools and Techniques test # 186 for IBM in Austin, TX.  Responsible for the design, presentation and sometimes the implementation of various solutions utilizing IBM midrange and storage products.  Responsible for obtaining and maintaining various IBM technical certifications.

Responsible for the system administration of AIX, Solaris, HPUX, DEC UNIX, and Windows NT based systems at MetLife’s Rensselaer Information Systems Center (RISC).  Senior site administrator for all of RISC’s AIX systems which include two SP frames consisting of six silver nodes, three high nodes, one wide node connected to 6.248TB of SSA DASD, with E30 and F30 Control Workstations; three RS/6000 43Ps; one F40; one J50; and a 49H/J50 HACMP cluster.  Unix Admin Duties include:  Maintaining the hardware environment by adding new components as required and preparing the environment for additional equipment (power, networking), coordinating hardware installation with vendor CE’s and scheduling the required downtime;  Shutdown and re-booting nodes as required;  Managing the user environment by adding, modifying and removing user accounts from the environment and limiting access to appropriate nodes;  Resolving all hardware problems by working with hardware engineers, coordinating resolution and perform any recovering operations (e.g. restoring disk volumes);  Monitor the environment using various tools including Tivoli;  Migrate application and other software modifications from the development environment to production;  Administer tape backups performed on local and remote tape drives. Catalog the tapes and send and retrieve tapes to and from an off-site facility;  For nodes using HACMP, restore operation to primary node after a failover has occurred and problem with primary system has been resolved;  Install software patches and upgrades to operating system and various packages including: UDB EEE, PSSP and AIX.  Responsible for the domain administration of a local NT resource domain consisting of over 230 rack mounted Compaq NT servers.  Responsible for the staged migration of a SP frame from AIX 4.2.1 and PSSP 2.3 to AIX 4.3.2 and PSSP 2.4.  Responsible for the testing and documentation of DBR procedures using Sysback on SP nodes.  SP Change Coordinator responsible for chairing weekly change meetings, and coordinating all hardware and software changes done on MetLife’s SP frames.

Responsible for providing maintenance, administration, technical and user support for the technical infrastructure at NYCO’s and Minera NYCO’s (Hermacillo Mexico) operations.  Provided system administration and technical support for Netware 3.12, NT 4.0 server, AIX, OS/400 V3R7 and NT 4.0 Workstation.  Managed the installation of NYCO’s network cabling infrastructure consisting of CAT5 and fiber optic contracts.  Responsible for the moving of NYCO’s voice traffic to a T1.  Responsible to configure, procure, install, inventory and maintain all personal computer hardware and software and manage all PC and server licenses.  Responsible for training and support of PC user application software including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation and business graphics software, terminal emulation, network and PC utilities and unique creation and selection of macros, templates and forms.

Key-in and verified screen table definitions for a computerized phone system, requiring interpretation of approximately twenty screen diagrams to construct screen definition tables in formats defined by software implementation notes.  Tables represented in 6809 assembly mnemonics, with special directives required by the Tektronix 8550 development system.

Programmer, Thain Logic                                                                    3/84 - 7/84

Wrote and tested support routines for research and development projects, as well as maintenance programming for system level utility programs in C and PDL.  Performed diagnostic programming for CP/M compatible BDOS and BIOS function support in Z80.  Applications included a proprietary CP/M compatible multitasking operating system, a volume cataloging facility, a C source program cross reference utility, a remote access communications program and a structure based file access routine series.
